Successful candidates must submit an application, which includes a work history description that documents and meets specific industry related experience. Once earned, certification must be maintained through Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and recertified every three years.
System integration responsibilities are often split across a dozen or more job titles — with no single person accountable for whether the integration is secure, tested, and maintained. SSI certification establishes a defined standard of competency for the professionals doing this work, and gives employers a credential they can point to when it matters.
The SSI exam tests real competency across four domains critical to secure, well-managed system integration.
| Content Domain | % of Examination |
| Program Management — documentation, project timelines, cost estimation, resource coordination, system commissioning, version control, requirement identification | approximately 31 - 38% |
| Quality Assurance — test plan development and execution, environment validation, deliverable management | approximately 17 - 20% |
| System Integration — component integration, framework selection, care/custody/control processes, systems engineering design | approximately 16 - 20% |
| Risk Mitigation — risk analysis and mitigation, vendor evaluation, functional safety, stakeholder risk management, cybersecurity posture evaluation, continuous improvement | approximately 26 - 32% |
