NICET is Ending All Work Element (WE) Testing by December 31, 2017

We are in the final stages of transitioning our engineering technician programs to the Standard Model/CBT format. If you are interested in testing in any of the programs still available in the WE format, there are only a few opportunities left. WE Testing Centers are filling up quickly. These next 6 months will be the last opportunities to use WEs earned toward higher levels of certification. Apply for your exam today!

New Standard Model/CBT exams for Highway Construction Levels I and II (III and IV coming soon) and Construction Materials Testing Level I (II, III and IV coming soon) are available now. All new applicants for these programs will receive the new Standard Model/CBT exams.

Remember: NICET will no longer offer any testing in the programs listed below due to lack of interest after December 31, 2017. Certified individuals can continue to recertify and many of the competencies will be rolled up into the new Transportation Construction Inspection and other Standard Model/CBT programs.

Programs to Be Discontinued

Transportation – Highway Design
Transportation – Highway Traffic Operations
Transportation – Highway Surveys
Transportation – Highway System Maintenance and Preservation
Erosion & Sediment Control

Feasibility Study

The following programs were slated to be discontinued at the end of 2017 due to lack of interest. After the announcement, NICET received feedback that there is still interest and we should keep these programs. Work Element testing will still end December 31, 2017, but based on the results of the study, NICET may redevelop some or all of these programs in the Standard Model/CBT format.

The best way to apply for the exam is online.  Login to your NICET account and select Exam Application. The online application allows you to select up to 40 WEs, see test centers and dates with available seats, and as soon as the transaction is complete your seat is reserved.

The increased demand for WE testing in these programs is causing longer than usual wait times for the experience review. Please carefully read and follow application instructions to help us reduce wait times for everyone.
