NICET is a division of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE). About 60 years ago, a group of PEs established NICET (then ICET) to recognize technicians and the engineering team. Just over a year ago, NSPE adopted a new strategic plan that included establishing efficiencies among NSPE divisions. Like so many plans this year, COVID-19 interrupted it. I am happy to report we are getting back on track, and that—through all of it—I have a new role at NICET.
I cannot say enough about the patience and cooperation of our customers during these difficult times. Your commitment to doing the job right and to maintaining a qualified workforce to ensure public safety is truly remarkable. Thank you for your support! The volunteer leadership and staff have also risen to the occasion and made many sacrifices to get us this far in ensuring NICET will continue to fulfill its mission for the foreseeable future. There are still challenges ahead but I am cautiously optimistic.
New editions of News from NICET will be emailed quarterly in January, April, July, and October. This issue contains updates on recent projects and some interesting survey results where PEs answer questions about NICET.
