A: Use the NICET-Certified Mark.
As a certified person, you can use the NICET certified mark on your business card.
As an employer of a certified person, you can use the NICET support statement on your business stationery.
Who is interested in NICET certification?
- Individuals who have met NICET's established standards for a particular practice area.
- Certified individuals who demonstrate knowledge, experience, and a sense of professionalism.
- Employers who seek individuals who have invested in pursuing and achieving certification.
- Regulators and Authorities having Jurisdiction who seek certified persons on behalf of their constituent base.
- Clients who seek certified persons to perform tasks.
- The public that seeks certified practitioners in whom they can trust their safety, or the safety of their possessions.
Demonstrating Certification Status
NICET accepts an obligation to its certificate holders, their employers, authorities having jurisdiction, and the public at large to protect the integrity and value of the NICET certification mark by controlling its usage. The Institute maintains a public registry of its certificants and enforces the following rules governing the uses of the mark.
Who may use the NICET mark?
- Businesses that endorse NICET certification or employ NICET certificants may use the NICET Support Statement
- Active-status NICET certificants may use the "NICET-Certified" mark.
Guidelines for Use

Use of NICET Support Statement

With the NICET Support Statement, employers can promote NICET certification and market their company's dedication to quality and technical competency. The support statement may be reproduced on web sites, company letterhead, promotional materials, and other printed matter.

It is NOT acceptable to place the NICET-certified mark on company letterhead stationery, marketing materials, websites, etc., without the support statement. Alone, the mark suggests that the company is NICET-certified.
Use of "NICET-Certified" Mark
First-time NICET certificants receive two "NICET CERTIFIED" decals that may be displayed on hardhats, clipboards, or vehicle windows. Certificants may order additional decals by completing the Order Form for Decals and Personal Records.
Business Cards
NICET-Certified Mark. When printed on the business card, the mark must be placed so that it is linked to the individual named on the business card who is currently certified by NICET. It is NOT acceptable to place the NICET-certified mark so that it suggests that the firm is certified by NICET.

Other Displays of Certification Status
To call attention to your certification, write the designation CET ("Certified Engineering Technician" or "Certified Engineering Technologist") after your name. Or, you may write the appropriate technician certification grade (TT, AET, ET, or SET), the appropriate technician certification level (I, II, III, or IV), or the appropriate technologist certification grade (AT or CT) after your name.
