Water-Based Fire Protection Systems Layout (formerly Automatic Sprinkler Systems Layout) — New Testing Process Begins September 1, 2010

NICET Water-Based Fire Protection Systems Layout program is transitioning to Computer-Based Testing (CBT) in the Standard Model. The new format is a quality improvement that features convenient test scheduling (more times and locations) and scores before leaving the testing facility.

Anyone may apply for Work Element testing until midnight on August 31, 2010.
Starting September 1, 2010, the first day of transition for Water-Based Fire Protection Systems Layout, all applicants will be required to test in the Standard Model/CBT format, EXCEPT for those who:

  1. Previously tested one or more WEs in Automatic Sprinkler Systems Layout, or
  2. Have an active Automatic Sprinkler Systems Layout application postmarked prior to September 1, 2010.

Automatic Sprinkler Systems Layout WE applications postmarked between September 1, 2010 and the June 30, 2011 will be accepted only from individuals who meet the two conditions above. Those individuals may continue to apply for WE exams UNTIL one of the following occurs:

  1. The individual submits an application for a Standard Model/CBT exam in the program, or
  2. The last day of the transition period has passed.

Automatic Sprinkler Systems Layout WE testing will end by September 30, 2011.

See Standard Model/CBT for information and applications for the new format.
