Highway Maintenance (Transportation Subfield 09)

Effective July 1, 2007, Highway Maintenance (Transportation subfield 09) has been replaced by Highway Systems Maintenance and Preservation (Transportation subfield 14).

First-time Maintenance examinees:

Individuals who previously tested in Highway Maintenance and plan to upgrade their certification:

Individuals who previously tested in Highway Maintenance (subfield 09) will have a one-year grace period to complete the exam requirements for the Highway Maintenance (subfield 09) program. After July 1, 2008, if these candidates wish to upgrade their Maintenance certification, they must comply with the exam requirements of the Highway Systems Maintenance and Preservation (subfield 14) program.

Individuals who are currently certified in Highway Maintenance and do not intend to upgrade their certification:

Whenever an exam requirement changes, individuals who are already certified and do not intend to upgrade their level of certification do not need to comply with any changes for the level(s) of certification they have already been awarded. These certificants can keep their Highway Maintenance certification in Active Status by recertifying every three years in compliance with NICET Policy #30.
