Obtaining NICET Technician Certification by Reciprocity:
Canadian Certified Engineering Technicians

NICET recognizes Construction Materials Testing and Geotechnical Engineering Technology technician certifications awarded by constituent members of the Canadian Council of Technicians and Technologists (CCTT), including AETTN, ASET, ASTTBC, CTTAM, NBSCETT, OACETT, OTPQ, PEISCET, SASTT, and SCETTNS.

After you have established residency in the United States, you may apply for NICET Level III engineering technician certification. The successful applicant in Construction Materials Testing will receive NICET Level III certificates in Asphalt, Concrete, and Soils. The successful applicant in Geotechnical will receive a NICET Level III certificate as a Geotechnical Generalist.

All recipients of technician certification by reciprocity must take and pass a special examination within three years.

Applicants must submit the Canadian Reciprocity Technician Application, the application review fee, and a photocopy of the Canadian certificate awarded by a CCTT constituent member. Within six weeks or receiving all your application materials, NICET will notify you by mail of your certification status.
